This Chair is part of the INSTN’s main vocation, the development and reinforcement of education and training programs related to the field of materials for energy and their diagnoses. The INSTN Foundation participates in the funding of the chair and supports the development of international student exchange programs between academic partners, NTU in Singapore, Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, UTT and CIRIMAT. INSTN will participate in the funding of seminars and Open Innovation workshops.

The set-up of such a chair is fully coherent with the missions of the CEA cross-cutting program on materials and processes skills, both in terms of research fields, and also knowledge management. The cross-cutting program partially funds the technological platforms that will be needed to carry out the research work, in particular on the CEA–Saclay site. This concerns notably the financing of the latest generations of PVD, ALD and additive manufacturing processes. Moreover, the cross-cutting program will back a number of generic Open Innovation projects that will, in particular, enable the development of new approaches and new methodologies. It also co-finances research actions in collaboration with the founding and associated members of the chair, Mecachrome, Dephis, Safran, Framatome, Orano and Atron. Finally, the program will participate in the funding of seminars and Open Innovation workshops.
